[News] Blade of the 47 Ronin Heads to UK Digital

When 2013’s '47 Ronin' was released it was badly panned barely made a big dent at the box office and killed the film making career of Ridley Scott protégé Carl Rinsch. Yet the film introduced lay audiences to legend of the Chūshingura,  a tale of timeless of warrior heroism continued that continues with 'Blade of the 47 Ronin'.

After a successful digital run starting in the US, 'Blade of the 47 Ronin' comes to the UK on Blu-ray and DVD courtesy of Dazzler Media. Directed by Ron Yuan, This follow up to the 2013 Keanu Reeves helmed action epic  brings us into the present with some surprisingly clever twists in the samurai mythos and features some big names in martial arts action. 'Blade of the 47 Ronin' slices its way to home entertainment from 24th April.

Set 300 years after “47 Ronin”,  Yurei, an evil witch whose ancestor was slain by one of the legendary 47 Ronin, has surfaced in modern day Budapest looking for revenge. Yurei seeks to completely destroy all samurai by uniting both halves of the powerful Tengu Sword. Caught in the middle of this conflict if streetwise New Yorker, Luna who discovers from Lord Shinshiro that she is a descendent of one of the 47 Ronin. Since a prophecy claims only a descendant of the original 47 Ronin can wield the blade and defeat Yurei, Luna finds herself a target. Shinshiro charges ronin Reo and apprentice Onami with training Luna in the Bushido ways. With most of the samurai lords dead or missing, and a traitor hiding among them, the remaining warriors must summon all of their skills as martial arts masters and battle Yurei’s mystic magic to fulfil their destiny.

Martial arts action legend Ron Yuan takes up directing duties of the script comes courtesy of the writing trio that makes up John Swetnam ('Into The Storm'). Aimee Garcia ('Lucifer') and WWE superstar A J Mendes. Working with Ron to bring the action to life is veteran stunt performer  Gáspár Szabó who worked on the first film along with 'Dune (2021)' and 'Blade Runner 2049' in an extensive CV of action entertainment. Ron and Gáspár lead a cast of rising stars featuring Anna Akana ('Ant-Man'), and martial arts action stars Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum), and Mike Moh (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), 

Fight-filled extravaganza 'Blade of the 47 Ronin' will be available in the UK on Blu-ray and DVd from April 24th. You can pre-order your copy from Amazon today.
