World's First Swissploitation Flick 'Mad Heidi' Gets US Home Release

After a successful, one night only, special screening across the US, 'Mad Heidi' melts and oozes its way to US home digital entertainment, courtesy of Raven Banner Releasing. Dubbed, the world's first 'Swissploitation' film, the zany comedy horror takes a beloved classic children's story and turns into a blood and cheese soaked grind-house epic. The film stars Casper Van Dien ('Starship Troopers') and Alice Lucy and helmed by first time directors Johannes Hartmann and Sandro Klopfstein (who also co-writer the film).

Set in a dystopian Switzerland, the peaceful nations has fallen under the fascist rule of evil tyrant President Meli (Van Dien), hellbent on world domination through cheese. Young Heidi (Lucy) lives a pure and simple life in the Swiss Alps with her Grandfather Alpöhi (veteran actor David Schofield; 'Gladiator', 'Pirates of the Caribbean'). Heidi's desire for freedom soon lands her in trouble with the dictator’s henchmen, and her lover Peter (Kel Matsena), a goat herder, is executed by government agents for illegal cheese distribution.

Pushed too far, Heidi transforms into a kick-ass warrior on a vengeance fuelled mission to end the reign of Meli's tyrannical rule. Heidi faces down fierce female prison inmates, cheese-fuelled Swiss super-soldiers, ninja nuns, and more to liberate her country from the cheese fascists.

'Mad Heidi' is already enjoying a successful run in much of Europe, this melee splatter fest of action, gore and cheese tyranny clearly appealing to the continent's penchant for all things macabre. Now Raven Banner Releasing brings this fierce lactic laden action horror to US home entertainment with a Blu-ray, DVD, and digital release through all major outlets and streaming platforms. If you want extra cheese with your horror entertainment, look out for
the Blu-ray limited 'extra cheese' edition. 'Mad Heidi' will be available for US release from 21st July.
