[NEWS] I Am Duran Documentary Finally Arrives

Dazzler Media have announced the release later this month, of Mat Hodgson's acclaimed epic documentary about the life of one of boxing's greatest in-ring warriors, Roberto Duran. 'I Am Duran' features interviews with fighters and movie stars as well as the man himself, a four-time World Champion and one man wrecking-ball who took on the world, transcended his sport and helped inspire his home country of Panama to rise up against its CIA funded dictator to achieve independence. Born in Panama in 1951 Roberto Duran fought his way to sport stardom from as young as eight years old living in the slums of El Chorrillo in the district of La Casa de Piedra ('The House of Stone').

Shanghai Cinema Comes to Liverpool

The 20th anniversary celebration recognising the twin status of the cities of Liverpool and Shanghai marks the launch of Shanghai Film Week's first film festival event. The city of Shanghai in partnership with Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Hope University and the UK-China Film Collaboration Project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, are hosting a unique and engaging film week in Liverpool from the 14th October and will run over four days.

Cine Asia Double Bill Hits UK Cinema Screens

One of the leading distributor of Chinese films Cine Asia has announced the release of two epic films in UK cinemas this October. Directed by two of China's most renowned directors. 'The Captain' and 'The Climbers' are films based on true events depicting stories of bravery and resolve in the face of adversity whether it's flying 30,000 feet in the sky or scaling the highest mountain tops. 

Andrew Lau, director of the 'Infernal Affairs' trilogy helms the story of Captain Liu ChuanJian who piloted flight 3U8633 en route to the Tibetan capital city Lhasa, to safety after the windshield was blown off at 10,000 metres. The accident occurred eighty minutes after take off, over the south west city of Chengdu, leaving the co-pilot partially sucked out of the window, and injuries sustained by some of the flight attendants. Hanyu Zhang ('Operation Mekong', 'The Great Wall' and 'Wolf Warrior 2') stars as the Captain who defied the odds to carry out what has been hailed as one of the most miraculous emergency landings in Chinese aviation history. Suspense filled and action packed, 'The Captain' is a tale courage, resourcefulness and grace under pressure.

Minibots Follow Their Co-Production Dream to China

London based Evolutionary Films, a leading award winning film production and sales company are heading to China next month for talks with to secure a production for their first animated feature film. The team are looking to finalise an agreement to bring their 3D CGI animated project 'Minibots' to the screen next year. So get ready as the Minibots say, to "Follow your dream. Along with Managing Director Diane Shorthouse, Creative Director Ross Boyask, and Marketing director Alistair Audley, Evolutionary Films has become established a leading and dynamic sales, distribution, and production company actively engaged in co-production of numerous high quality films and programs and various internally financed in-house feature productions. This year Evolutionary Films was named Best Distribution Company at the National Film Awards. 

'Minibots' marks the company's first venture into animation with a 3D CGI feature film which promises plenty of adventurous family fun. When Earth receives a coded message from outer space, three young geniuses realise their science camp project to build miniature robots that reflect their own personalities may be the best hope to communicate with the aliens. Now the kids and their Minibots must work together in a race against a shady Government agency to ensure the future of humankind.

The team at Evolutionary films will be flying out to Beijing and Shanghai next month to meet with partners in securing a lucrative co-production deal. 'Minibots' has been developed entirely in-house  with full blown production due to start before the end of the year. The film will be produced by Diane, and John Adams at Evolutionary Films and is based on an original screenplay by Scott Christian Sava.

Interview - Lifting the Travel Ban with Samy Chouia

 Can laughter Trump hate? A troupe of Middle Eastern/American comedians and film makers think it can, and in the battle for America's heart and soul blackened by President Donald Trump's anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant rhetoric, they're willing to give it a go. That is the central premise of film maker Samy Chouia's documentary 'Travel Ban; Make America Laugh Again'. Produced by Kevin Derek ('The Real Miyagi') it follows the journey of Palestinian/American comedian Aron Kader who following Trump's implementation of his "Travel Ban" put together a troupe of American/Middle Eastern comedians for a comedy special to tackle the rising hate against Muslims and immigrants in America.

[Film Review] - Fauve

Big things truly do come in small packages and with his first foray into short film, Canadian writer/director Jeremy Comte has already made a big impact on the film festival circuit garnering over 65 noteworthy nods. Sights have been set however for the ultimate movie accolade for any aspiring film maker, the OSCAR and Comte has his eye on this prize as "Fauve" is in contention for the Best Short film.
