If horror films have taught us anything, from 'Beetlejuice' all the way to the latest 'Candyman' installment, is not to call on sinister spectres. The outcome can only be grisly. In 'Summoning Sylvia', Larry is about to learn this harsh lesson when his bachelor party turns into a spectral hang out. The feature directorial debut of Broadway stalwarts Wesley Taylor & Alex Wyse, this LGBTQ comedy horror is set to get its cinema release at the home of US indie film, Laemmle theatres, from 31st March and available on VOD from 7th April.
Behind the distribution of 'Summoning Sylvia' is The Horror Collective, a company whose mission is to provide the right distribution strategy for independent horror films bringing the right film to the right audience. 'Summoning Sylvia' is the latest in a spooky library of 18 films and two television series including the Emmy Award nominated 'Doomsday'.
Summoning Sylvia's cast includes Travis Coles (comedy TV series 'Superstore'), Michael Urie ('Younger'), Frankie Grande (Henry Danger), Nicholas Logan ('I Care a Lot'), Troy Iwata ('Dash & Lily'), Noah Ricketts (Nail Gaiman's 'American Gods'), Sean Grandillo (Netflix TV series 'Scream', Camden Garcia ('Station 19'), and Veanne Cox (You’ve Got Mail) as the murderous spectre Sylvia. The film marks the feature directorial debut of the Broadway duo Wesley Taylor and Alex Wyse.
Wesley Taylor is no stranger to theatre and television. He is Theatre World Award Winner, Chita Rivera Award Winner, and Outer Critics Circle Award Nominee, and made his Broadway debut in the original cast of Rock of Ages. He then went on to star opposite Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth in the original cast of Broadway's The Addams Family, and brought to life Sheldon J. Plankton in Broadway's 'The Spongebob Musical, Live on Stage!'. His extensive film & television credits include 'The Good Wife,' and 'The Tomorrow People,' and co-created (and starred) in three original digital series, the latest being the Emmy-nominated "Indoor Boys," with his co director Alex Wyse. Another film & television actor, Alex will soon be joining Broadway's 'Good Night, Oscar' and brings with him an equally and eclectic body of television work that includes 'Marvel's Iron Fist' and NCIS Los Angeles.
The Horror Collective will release 'Summoning Sylvia in cinemas around the US starting with the premier screening at the Laemmle Glendale, California before moving onto New York. It will then be available on Digital HD on all major streaming platforms.
